AN END-TO-END SOLUTION TO PROVIDE LITERACY AND MATH TUTORS AND READING MENTORS FOR CHILDREN IN GRADES K-3 IN CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG SCHOOLS.

Businesses, organizations, groups or communities of faith can join Tutor Charlotte by becoming a lead partner.

Lead partners adopt and coordinate one or more classrooms (K-1) of Reading Mentors as well as support volunteer recruitment, coordination of Active Reading training led by the public library, and overall coordination and logistics.

Overview of a Reading Mentor Session

  • 15 minutes – sign in at office, select books provided, gather materials and be part of roll call in the classroom
  • 30 minutes – Active reading with assigned student
